President's Talk
2018 is a memorable year for us, as we make some dream come through, we have renovated our gym room at Delta Swimming Pool, now have bigger area for training, some new equipment will add in soon to make our gym fulfill with full training sets, our member can have exercise there or even to become body builder.
We have added in a new dart room as well, once aircon installed we will move in our dart facilities, our members can play darts there. With the support by SMC management, we have constructed 10 petanque courts at Dataran Tun Tuanku Bujang Phase II, every evening fully occupied by petanque lover, this not only beneficial our members, however public as well.
As compare to private sector, we are government servant who can not enjoy some staff benefit or reward as what in the private sector; however, with the forming up of club, we believe that we can do more than what private sector can do.
Our club always looking into members' benefit, Education incentives to those members’ children have a good result in public examination, Retirement incentives to those members retire in the current year. Sport incentives to those members represent SMC in MAKSAK State and National level competition. Subsidy to those member in difficult like the house burned down.
Our club always promotes healthy life style, without healthy body, we can’t carry out our daily duties efficiently. Other than what facilities been provided, we do encourage members by subsidy members who join the lesson or exercise like Yoga, Qi-Gon, Aerobic, H-Run etc. Rent a badminton court and ping pong court for our staff usage. Organize and subsidy for members leisure and vacation trip.
We always remembered that our mission is to serve our members, enhancing their life. We always have a mind that we can do more, as we always said, the dream must be very big, then we have a clear target, even we might not achieve 100%, but the final out come would still big. We have make some of our dream come true in 2018, we hope we can have better achievement in 2019, and we always dream that we have our own stadium for our members.

Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) Sports & Social Club plays an important role in the Council by looking after members' welfare ans holding recreational activities to strengthen relationship and unity among staff.
The club gives staff the opportunity to interact with their peers from different age groups regardless of their social, racial and religious background. The focus is always on having a good time together.
The activities provided a goos platform where differences may be forgotten to achieve positive results especially during competitions besides helping balance work with leisure activities. Through club activities and sport events, members find time to exercise after work with colleagues who share the same interest.
It is really important to offer such activities to release stress, boost their overall health, wellbeing and unwind after a hard days's work. this will help to support both their emotional and physical wellbeing.
The club shows that the council is interested in its staff's wellbeing and staff as a wholesome team. Sports and other social activiteis can also be used to cultivate a sense of camaraderie and team spirit which spill over to the work place boosting morale, productivity and results.
